Who can become an IKEA Family member?

Everyone is welcome to become a member of IKEA Family: singles, couples, students, grandparents and of course families big and small. In short: anyone who loves their home, is at least 16 years old and lives in Switzerland or one of the neighbouring countries (Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, France or Italy). You don’t even need to have your own family to become a member of IKEA Family.

The IKEA Family membership card is a personal card. 

It can’t be transferred to anyone else. All other members of your family can apply for IKEA Family membership easily and free of charge.

Where can I register for IKEA Family?

Download the free IKEA Family app today (see 4. IKEA Family app) and get your membership card on your smartphone. There’s a small gift waiting for you.

It’s also quick and easy to register using the online form available at IKEA.ch/IKEA_Family

You can also register as a member at the digital IKEA Family kiosk in the entrance area of your nearest IKEA store.

Can I be safe in the knowledge that my personal details won’t be passed onto third parties?

Yes, absolutely! Data privacy is very important to us and we won’t pass on your personal details to third parties. We sometimes have to work together with external partners (e.g. when sending and printing brochures). However, they are contractually obliged to treat all data confidentially and to not pass it onto third parties under any circumstances.

IKEA Family is a great offer, but how much does it cost?

Nothing. Membership is 100% free!

Do I receive bonus points for the purchases I make with the IKEA Family membership card?

No, we don’t do bonus points. Instead, the IKEA Family card offers many other benefits that you can take advantage of on an ongoing basis and every time you visit. We also surprise you once a year with a beautiful gift to say thank you for your loyalty.

Some of our IKEA Family benefits require that you consent to us sending you information via e-mail, post and SMS. To give your consent, simply check the relevant box in your member profile and give your confirmation in the e-mail that follows.

You’ve lost your IKEA Family membership card – what are the next steps?

Don’t worry! Download the free IKEA Family app now (see 4. IKEA Family app) and get your membership card on your smartphone. Simply present your digital IKEA Family card every time you make a purchase and take advantage of the benefits.

You can also register as a member at the digital IKEA Family kiosk in the entrance area of your nearest IKEA store and have the card sent to you via SMS or e-mail.

We also send you a QR code with your personal card in the IKEA Family newsletter. To give your consent, simply check the relevant box in your member profile and give your confirmation in the e-mail that follows.

Why should you present your IKEA Family membership card at the checkout every time you make a purchase?

To put it simply, because it’s worth it. For example, by presenting your card, you make sure you always get the best IKEA Family member prices and club offers. In addition, the items that you buy from IKEA are then insured for the journey home, so if one of them breaks on the way, you’ll receive a replacement free of charge (upon presentation of the receipt).

Where do I present my IKEA Family membership card in an IKEA store?

To take advantage of all the benefits, always show your IKEA Family membership card at the checkout, in the IKEA restaurant and in the IKEA Swedish Food Market.

Can other family members use my IKEA Family membership card?

No, the IKEA Family membership card is a personal card. It can’t be transferred to anyone else. If another family member wants their own IKEA Family card, they can apply for membership simply and free of charge.

Can I also use my IKEA Family membership card in IKEA stores outside of Switzerland?

Yes, you can use the card in all countries that have the IKEA Family scheme, e.g. in Austria, Germany, Italy and France.

How do I change my name or address associated with my membership?

The easiest way to do this is by using our free IKEA Family app (see 4. IKEA Family app). This ensures that you have your IKEA Family membership card with you and can change your data quickly at any time.

You can also update your profile online or at the digital IKEA Family kiosk in the entrance area of your nearest IKEA store.

What do I need to do if I no longer want to be an IKEA Family member?

You can cancel your membership at any time and without providing a reason via our online contact form.


4. IKEA Family app

Download the app for free and you will receive a small gift from us. Do this using the link provided.


5. IKEA Family birthday surprise

I haven’t received a birthday greeting. What do I have to do?

We wish you a happy birthday by giving you a small surprise. This is our way of saying thank you for all of your purchases in the twelve months running up to your special day. (You will receive your surprise via e-mail around two weeks before your birthday.)

This IKEA Family benefit requires that you consent to us sending you information via e-mail. To give your consent, simply check the relevant box in your member profile and give your confirmation in the e-mail that follows.

If you haven’t received a birthday surprise, simply get in touch with us using our online contact form. We will check whether we have the right information saved on file about you.

It’s also important that you present your IKEA Family card when making a purchase at the checkout of an IKEA store or on IKEA.ch at least once a year.

How long is the IKEA Family birthday voucher valid?

The validity of your birthday voucher is indicated on the voucher itself. Please note: don’t forget to bring your IKEA Family membership card and the birthday voucher when picking up your surprise!


6. IKEA Family birthday surprise for your children

I haven’t received a birthday surprise e-mail for my child. What do I have to do?

If you’ve registered your children in your IKEA Family profile, they’ll also receive a great birthday surprise from us, which we’ll send to you only by e-mail. (The surprise will be sent around two weeks before the birthday.)

This IKEA Family benefit requires that you consent to us sending you information via e-mail. To give your consent, simply check the relevant box in your member profile and give your confirmation in the e-mail that follows. 

If you haven’t received a birthday surprise e-mail for your child, simply log into your IKEA Family profile and check whether your child’s birthday has been saved correctly and whether the e-mail address saved is up to date.

Alternatively, contact us via our online contact form. We will be happy to check whether the correct details have been saved and whether the e-mail address is up to date.
